Ted started in the trades as a bricklayer for his father, Joseph Cachey, a stone mason who began buying, selling and developing real estate in 1927. After graduating high school, Cachey studied business and played guard on the football team at the University of Michigan for three seasons in the early 1950s. As captain, he helped lead the Wolverines to a 6-3 record in 1954. After college, Ted received his law degree from Loyola University.
Cachey’s early experience as a young laborer on his father's job sites fostered his ambition to expand the family business of professional home building. During his career spanning 60 years, Cachey ran a successful law practice operating in tandem with the real estate development and building company his father started. Both the law practice and home building company are located in Orland Park. Ted is retired. His son Tom Cachey runs the building company and has expanded it into a residential, commercial and remodeling company.
Growing up in a construction family, early on Tom was involved in the business from cleaning up the job sites and sitting in the models with his grandfather to working with his uncle's masonry company in the summers. Tom received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Hillsdale College in 1982. After college with the housing market being slow, Tom spent several years working in the Title Insurance industry and as a Realtor. In 1986, Tom began learning at his father's feet after rejoining the business full time. He expanded the commercial and industrial development side of the business and became a Broker. Tom also spent many years as a director of the local homebuilder's association and acted as their president in 1995. Tom served as a director for The New Lenox Chamber of Commerce from 2008 through 2013. Tom is active in his church and enjoys serving the community.
